ANA & PNG-member coin dealer with a decade of experience serving the entire DMV.
I started collecting coins as a kid, the kind of kid who would rather flip through a box of wheat pennies than play video games. That obsession turned into a job, then an apprenticeship, then a career.
Before founding Hicks Coins in 2022, I worked for several established coin dealers and for one of the largest coin supply companies in the world. That experience taught me two things: the business runs on trust, and the customer almost always leaves money on the table at a traditional storefront dealer.
So I built Hicks Coins to fix both. No retail counter, no employees, no glass cases of overpriced inventory. Just a single experienced numismatist who evaluates your collection honestly and pays you a fair price on the spot, by whatever method you prefer. We can schedule a time to meet, either at my office or as a home visit.
A few data points that say more than a bio paragraph.
In numismatics, first as a collector, then as a dealer’s apprentice, and now running Hicks Coins.
From a single inherited silver dollar to six-figure family estate libraries. No collection is too small or too large.
Years of attending FUN, ANA, Whitman Baltimore, and major regional shows have built a strong wholesale network.
Bound by the codes of ethics of both the American Numismatic Association and Professional Numismatists Guild. See credentials.
We can schedule a time to meet, either at my office or as a home visit. The standard of service for serious collectors and estates.
Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. On your schedule.
Every numismatist has corners of the hobby they know best. These are mine:
The traditional coin shop business runs on margin. The bigger the spread between what you’re paid and what your coins resell for, the better that month looks. That structure creates pressure on the dealer, and then pressure on the customer.
I’m not running that business. My overhead is low and the work is built around careful, transparent evaluations. If my offer doesn’t work for you, no hard feelings. You keep your coins, and we both go home. There’s no commission breathing down my neck.
That’s why I have customers who took six months to decide to sell, and customers who shopped my offer against three other dealers before coming back. Both kinds of customer are welcome.
Whether you have a single silver dollar or an inherited library of slabs, I’d love to hear about it.
